Quietly lightening Solo Business 🧠s
First, heya, and welcome 👋 Second, enjoy chat-chit, let’s get to business…specifically, Solo Business 😃
If you have someone in your life that set out to do a thing and along the way that thing turned into something they didn’t intend to be a thing and now it’s one of the biggest things that make them them…well, then it looks like you already know me!

Solo’s Not Small
Here’s where headcount matters. Now, while size matters to many, size means something different here.
Solo Business is a business where ‘all is done by one’.
That said, while small business could be a Solo Business, calling a Solo Business a small business muddies the waters, just as calling one a freelancer, independent consultant, or similar does the same.
While these have crossovers, they’re different types business and ways of working in business of businesses.
And, if you’re wondering, yes, labels like sole trader, self-employed, soloprenuer could also fit under the overarching way of working in Solo Business and they’re out of focus here.
Solo Business is a specialist way of working in business and we’re here for it.
How we’re growing the thinking behind Solo Business.
We’ll be honest, once we pulled a little at the clarity calling to be called out and throught through for the view of Solo Business…we kinda freaked out because there’s a metric f#^k tonne (…yes, that is a recognised unit in Solo Business…now 😅) of thinking to be thought through to connect what we’re told to do and how to (actually) do it in our Solo Business days and ways.
Both the podcast and articles are all part of the mission of Little Language Matters* (that’s us, and by us I mean me, Kathy Rast and Little Language Matters*…the whole ‘we’ thing will make more sense as your pick up what we’re putting out there. Anyhoo, back to the mission we only have eyes for):
To simplify the thinking behind Solo Business so that Solo Business can be a part of something bigger than the business.
As our business names says, little language matters and we both look for what matters and what’s the matter.
The angle of our dangle is via the lens of our language we (actually) use.
Through this lens we can see the direction, distance and decided decisions laying language within the words being uttered aloud.
Our Three Hope for Solo Business 2026
2026 is shaping up to be the year where many grow into knowing their sense of self. We believe that of all the ways of working in business that Solo Business has the biggest gains to gain by clearing up and connecting with the (actual) thinking behind the Solo Business.
While we’re not specifically saying it in each contribution here, we’re working towards making the following being so mentionable it’s measurable and so measurable it’s memorable (for all the right reason):
Solo Business has a strong sense of self and is a success-filled way to business.
Solo Business feels resourced and resourceful.
Solo Business connects to the part the business (actually) plays in that something that’s bigger than the business.
And that’s it. Just one human you couldn’t walk passed an needing need where the lens of language can lighten the 🧠load in a little big way. Enjoy.
